In the event of inclement weather, St. Andrew’s follows Pennsbury School District closings. (If you live in the Pennsbury District, you can get this information on the Pennsbury cable channel 15, local television news or radio stations WCBC 1490 AM, KYW 1060AM, WNJO 94.5FM, WPST 97.5 FM school code is #747.)
If there is no school for Pennsbury, St. Andrew’s will be closed.
If there is a two hour delay all morning sessions will be cancelled:
If Pennsbury has early dismissal, we will call you. If you are not home, we will leave a message. If you are in doubt, do not hesitate to call us at 215-369-0773.
Cell Phones: We ask all parents and caretakers who have access to a cell phone to make sure immediate contact is possible.
For any other emergency, or extenuating circumstance, teachers will call parents to notify them of a school closing or early dismissal. We have emergency procedures and supplies (bottled water and food) in place to keep your children as safe and comfortable as possible should any unfortunate situations arise. The decision to close school will be made by the Board of St. Andrew’s Nursery School.
All students must be completely toilet trained prior to beginning school. This means they must be able to take care of all toilet needs. Disposable pull-up pants may not be worn.
In the event of an accidental wetting, children will be changed into dry clothes provided by the school. Please wash and return these clothes as soon as possible.
In the event of a bowel accident, parents will be called to change their child. In the event that a child is not toilet trained by the beginning of the school year, monthly tuition may be paid in order to hold a student’s place in the class. If a parent chooses to withdraw a child for toilet training reasons, one month’s tuition deposit may be refunded provided that the vacated spot can be filled. This refund will be at the discretion of the Board.
As a safety precaution, staff members will wear latex gloves when dealing with any bodily fluids.
In order to keep the spread of contagious diseases under control, it is requested that parents do not send their child to school if they show any signs of a cold or other communicable disease or head lice. Please keep children home if they exhibit any of the following symptoms: fever, cough, runny nose (any discharge other than clear), sore throat, rash, diarrhea, vomiting. Children should be free from symptoms for 24 hours before returning to school.
Parents must notify the school immediately if a child contracts a communicable disease. In the event of other illnesses, it is requested that parents notify teachers of the child’s absence by calling 215-369-0773.
Pennsylvania State Law requires that any child with the following diseases will not be permitted to attend school for the specified time period:
Please see our health form.
Parents will provide snacks on an assigned and rotating basis. Please try to keep snacks healthy and nutritious. Suggestions are cheese & crackers, cookies, pretzels, goldfish, pudding cups and spoons, fresh fruit and mini-bagels. Please make sure the quantity is sufficient for the class size. Please do not send nuts, candy or gum. Cupcakes may be served on birthdays and holidays only. Juice will be provided by the school.
Children will be assigned to bring snack on (or as close as possible to) their birthday. If you choose to bring cupcakes, please do not send chocolate, and please make all cupcakes alike. Ice cream cups and spoons may also be brought for birthday celebrations.
Six class parties will be held during the school year. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, and Easter will all be celebrated. Classroom parent representatives will assign families to provide specific items for the parties.
We will accept up to six morning and afternoon four year old students (three from AM/ three from PM) to stay for the extended lunch hour, at least once per month. The cost will be $7.00 per day and payment, in the form of a check, is required at the time of sign-ups. The parent will provide lunch. Juice is provided by the school. Afternoon students should arrive at 11:30, and morning students should be picked up at 12:30. The teachers will staff this hour.
SIGN-UP PROCEDURES: Beginning in September a sign-up sheet will be available at least one week prior to the end of the month for the next month. Initially you may sign up for one day per month. At the conclusion of the "sign-up" week all unreserved days will be released giving anyone interested the opportunity to sign up for an additional day/days.
A brief summary of the day’s activities will be posted on the front or back door each day. Be sure to check this location for announcements and reminders.
Parent to teacher, and teacher to parent communication is strongly recommended at St. Andrew’s. Conferences will be scheduled each year, and progress reports will be sent home. But don’t let it end there! Parents are invited to call teachers or set up conferences. Please call 215-369-0773 at any time to speak with one of the teachers. Likewise, teachers will feel free to contact parents on an as needed basis.
